Red Radishes and Salad Turnips

I have once again been out of practice drawing.  It's been a weird 2 weeks, with the cardiac catheterization and other health related road blocks.  But hey, I'm on the mend.  I already feel better.

It's time to get back in the swing of things.

Getting My Sketch Groove Back

One of the reasons I haven't been posting much is, well, I haven't felt well for quite some time.  My energy levels were low and I couldn't seem to walk very far at all without being short of breath.  I blamed my blood pressure medicine, since that is one of the side effects.  My cardiologist thought otherwise and scheduled me for a echocardiogram and stress test.  They revealed the true cause:  two possible blockages in my coronary arteries.

A week later I had a cardiac catheterization, per doctor's orders, she wanted to make sure of what they thought they saw.  Sure enough, two blockages, so they performed an angioplasty and placed stents at the blockages.

And 3 days later, I am already feeling better.  So now I need to get my sketch groove back.  I am long out of practice.

Three Things

There was a period of time where I shaved every day.  That period was 2 weeks about four years ago. Now this ensemble just takes up room in the medicine cabinet.

Trying to Simplify

I made a new sketchbook, this time with Kraft Brown Stonehenge paper.  It took me a couple of days to get started with it, but I broke it in this evening.

In retrospect I wish I would have used watercolor on this instead of color pencil.

Stir Crazy

I'm ready for spring.  I need to get out and flex my art muscles outside of my studio.  Hermit time has it's place but when it is no longer a choice because the weather is so crappy, well, it no longer serves a purpose other than making me a little nutso. Spring needs to get off its ass and quit fooling around.  I have been patient but my patience is wearing thin.

I just need it to be warm enough that I can bike to a coffee house, sit and draw.  It's all I am wishing for.  It's not that much to ask

Tired Self-Portrait

Does this self-portrait make me look tired?

I do have to say of all the self-portraits I have done in the last year or so I am the happiest with this one.  Maybe it's because I am getting better at drawing what I see.

Drawn with Rapidosketch #0 and #1 and Prismacolor Color Pencils.
